Stolen Facnor Furlers - Marathon FL

2 Facnor +FX7000 furlers were stolen off my boat at Key Colony Beach FL. Thieves cut the control lines and tramp in the process. Any info would be confidential.

Wow! You have our sympathy. That's an expensive loss. Did whomever get the top spindle as well?

The furlers are used with free flying sails, a large jib and A3. One halyard swivel was cut away. Fortunately the other swivel was off the boat for cleaning/service.

Pretty sophisticated theft. Was there any security or just a private dock? Theft is not exactly unknown here in Marathon but this was not the casual grab and run sort of thing.

I'm guessing of the Gunboat 55? Hate to hear that happened.

You might contact the Facnor Customer Service department and alert them to the theft. To be useful, someone will have to buy a replacement top spindle for one of the two systems lifted. Facnor could alert their vendors to be on the lookout for someone seeking a replacement spindle. Likewise, I'd contact any riggers in the area as, to be useful, someone will need to replace the drive lines and smooth end-to-end splices are not easily made by an amateur.

FWIW...

Check as many web-sites like Craigslist too. That's where a lot of pilfered goods are disposed of. Sometimes thieves will wait a while before advertising to allow things to settle down & become forgotten by most except the person from whom the parts were stolen. As a community, I feel we all have a responsibility to assist by checking these sites in our own areas because thieves are known to move goods out of the immediate area in which they stole them. I've put these items on my "radar" screen of on-line used goods sales.

It is sooo upsetting. Most of the time, the cost repairing/replacing is so much greater than what these people get for what is stolen.
Seehag. I thought you were in Alaska!
