Waterproof Drones - Recommendations?

Well, I'm biting the bullet. El Cheapo (or is it La Cheapa?) that would be me - has agreed that it would be a ton of fun to buy one of these.

We've seen them cost anywhere from $900US to $3000US. We are not tech wizards, we are not professional photographers, my husband's a pilot and so should be able to fly one, hopefully with little trouble.

But there's so much hype, I'd really like to hear some input from people who've gone down this road before.
