Re: We have a winner!

Honestly, I hate to see anyone disparaged over choice of boat. Every boat ever built and sold fit someone’s idea of their boating needs. We just don’t all have the same needs, and the variety of boating needs is infinite, thus the plethora of boats many buy and happily sail that so many others wouldn’t get caught dead on.
I am often reminded of a statement from a coastie when I first got into sailing: “It’s amazing what goes to sea- and comes back.”
Just about all of us learn the hard way, through experience. My first boat was a kit-built Luger 21 that sank the evening I launched it. Only damage was to my pride. But I learned to sail on that boat, quickly outgrew it, and started moving up the spectrum to what we presently sail. From my Sunfish on up, I can truly say the sailing experience is just as legitimate and complete, no matter what I’ve sailed on, including the first time I sailed 60 years ago on a vessel that was very similar to a large door.
For sure, a MacGregor isn’t my choice for ocean sailing, though I once saw one make an attempt at Brownsville-Key West direct. But for some uses, and some sailors, it is no doubt just the ticket.

Rubicon,

Outstanding, spoken like a true hot stick and rudder aerobatic pilot, who did his first solo check out eons ago in a Pitts Special S2B .

Some us miss the yanking and banking, rolling and pulling 5 and 6 G dogfights a lot.

Too bad we are right and left coasts, lots of great memories are still flashing back and forth in the ol brain box. Happy hour would be one great bundle of energy and hands a flying.

Speed is life
Lose Sight Lose the Fight
Be aggressive.

Thanks for kindling the memories

Re: We have a winner!

Robert Burns the Scottish poet was crooked on "needle dicks" as well and had a few words to say on the subject:

Long and thin just slips right in, don't satisfy the ladies.

Short and thick does the trick and brings up bonny babies.

Yeah, it's not like CF posters to give up so quickly on threads like this. If only the OP would chime back in and let us know how chastened he's now become to the Marvel of the Masses here.

Re: We have a winner!

I dunno. I feel like I should ask what's worse, overall: a MacGregor or a twin keel? That might get some spirit back into the thread.

Yep, never having owned a porche or been to a porche club meeting I would like to know more about them and also be given the opportunity to comment on any other skills he/she may be master of.

And that 'observation' distinguishes this thread from --- X% --- of the total threads on this (or, as far as that goes, any other) forum how???
