12 volt poe injector for ubiquiti bullet

Hi,

I can't seem to find a 12 volt POE injector for my ubiquiti bullet. To be clear I don't want to have tongues an inverter... I want to go directly from the 12 volt electrical panel to the injector, them to the bullet.

I have the 120 volt injector that came with the bullet package I bought but I have to think there is a better option.

Re: 12 volt poe injector for ubiquiti bullet

I was Amazoning for this last night. The Bullet spec sheet says "up to 24V" for power rating. The Titanium Bullet says "24V, .5A"

I think you could just get a pair of POE injectors like these:

Amazon.com: Super Power Supply® Power Over Ethernet Kit PoE 5V 12V 24V 48V 1A 2A 1.5A 2.1 5.5 Clear Modem Wifi Wireless WAN DSL 4G Wimax Router Switch Linksys Cisco Netgear E1000 E2000 E3000 E4200 E1200 E3200 E1500 E1550 E2100L Valet M10 M20 Plus WRT

Take the second injector and snip the pigtail off to use as the 12V male lead from ships power.

If you wanted the full 24V, you could get something like this:

Amazon.com: Dc/dc Converter Regulator 12v Step up to 24v 3a 72w: Electronics

At least that's how I was planning to wire mine up when the UPS guy brings it.

FTR, I'm not sure about the step up converter. For instance, when the batteries are being charged and the voltage is 13.5, if the converter doubles it to 27, you'd be over the "up to 24V" spec. I really shouldn't be giving electrical advice...

Just slit the cat5 cable and pick up the wires, jam the 12volts in there, its exactly what I did and it works fine...

I have used this on a couple of installations, Passive Power Over Ethernet Injector @ Netgate . They have been very helpful whenever I have any questions. There is also a good source here, although I have not used them for a long time, http://support.data-alliance.net/boa...ower-12-volts/ . Chuck

Our Bullet Titanium works just fine on 12V nominal. 9-24V (at the bullet end) is the range it takes.

Re: 12 volt poe injector for ubiquiti bullet

Thanks for this thread. This forum is amazing for first timers. I have installed the 12v POE adaptor, 70' of Cat5, Bullet Titanium and Engenius 8db antenna. All is working ok. But wondering if I should wire a fuse holder btwn the electric panel and the POE injector? And if so, what amperage fuse? If the POE is operable btwn 5v-50v and the Bullet btwn 9v-24v (and I have a marine 12volt system that might fluctuate btwn 11v-14v) then isn't it unnecessary to have a fuse?

Fuses should be sized for the wire size. A separate fuse of usually lower amperage is added to protect the equipment itself.
