Brad, A bit more information on "fried". That unit is of an age where it may still be serviced. I will look in my junk pile to see if an old one is there or been sent for recycling. The circuits may also be here.

Thanks for reply Bill
Went through cyclone Debbie 2 years ago & has not worked
since then. Howard instruments in Melbourne had a look at it a few
Weeks ago and just told me the circuit board is unrepairable, yet as mentioned
the direction indicator works. If your able to help it would save a lot of time
and expense changing over to some other unit. I’ve removed the circuit panel
and does not have any visual damage , I’m guessing the sustained 100 kt winds
For 10 hours was toooo much .

NMEA2000 sure is some nice stuff. You should check it out.

Thanks Aqualink 2000 vdo wind sensor looks like the ideal replacement, will definitely look into installing an nmea 2000 backbone
