Proprietary pin-and-sleeve, now obsolete and overkill for 12vdc. My advice is to replace both ends. I use the Anderson Powerpole connectors. They're nice.

New style Bulgin Buccaneer.

From googling it appears to be a 900 series. The 400 series are also blue, and externally similar, but it's the double keyway and the straight part in the middle that seems to match it with the 900.

Good eye. They didn't come up on my earlier search on DigiKey even though they have them in stock.

I looked at those a while ago and from memory they were pretty current limited. Do you know off hand what they are spec’d at? Is there a weather proof version? IP rated?

As per OP's original comment and the links in my previous one, the Buccaneer 900 series are Bulgin's "heavy duty" connectors - they're rated 32A, 600V ac/dc, IP68 and IP69K.

For regular low-current 12v purposes I would look at the CNlinko YM-20 series - -they're very cheap on eBay and AliExpress and I like how they only require half a turn to fasten them, although I haven't tried them myself.

My tiller pilot is on a standard Bulgin Buccaneer connector, I think the original Buccaneer that Bulgin produced, and it has a very fine thread that requires a number of turns to fasten. It would be easy to misthread it.

The small ones that are most widely used are nominally rated 45 amps with 10 AWG wire.

I use the SB50 housings for battery connections for small outboards. They support wire up to 6 AWG. There are larger sizes up to SB350 which is widely used as a forklift battery disconnect. I actually had a forklift with one once.

Generally the amp ratings match the usable ampacity of copper wire at 90° C.

There are weather-resistant boots available but the powerpole connectors are designed around the idea of corrosion-resistant contacts with good wiping action so that, at lower voltages, keeping everything dry is not entirely necessary.

Re: 3 pin 12v socket?????

I have something similar on my helm pedestal. There is a 3 conductor wire connected to the back, red, black, and grey. The two pin holes on the right are the red and black and have 26.8V across them. The pin on the left must not connect to anything, even though the grey wire connects there. I say this because it reads zero voltage against both the red and black pins. My only thought is that this must have been for a hand held spotlight or something?

I can't think of anything to use this setup for, so I'm thinking of wiring another usb plug to it, use the red and black wires and cap off the grey wire. I'm assuming that it'll have enough current to convert down to usb voltage and current.
