Re: 4g internet access - East-Coastal Cruiser

Don, trying to decide between AT&T and Verizon is like trying to decide which one of two whores is going to make you a better wife. While they're both sleeping and before you've met either one of them.

There are worse, but even xmas week I sent someone a text message, and they got it SIX HOURS LATER on Verizon. None of these guys is really concerned with performance, the way Western Electric and Bell used to be. And during Sandy, there were so many failures in every mode (cell, landline, txt) that an emergency manager and watch officer told me they were getting about half of their calls through. Needless to say, there's a major discussion of communications reliability coming up.

Even after the FCC's Katrina report, not much has changed. Keep your signal flags and morse lamp.

Re: 4g internet access - East-Coastal Cruiser

We use an external antenna for our USB 4g device, there are loads of vendors selling purpose built options RFConnect wireless solutions, cellular repeater, signal booster, cellular antennas, cellular coverage accessories as an example which will make a big difference to cell access for coast passages.
