Adding radar to boat

Sailboat has lowrance plotter in the helm and nav station that came with the boat(gen 2 hds units). I was thinking of adding a B&G radar and connecting to the nema 2000 backbone.

I'm thinking ill eventually(1-2 years) upgrade to B&G plotters but for now was hoping to add the halo radar.

Can anyone comment on adding radar into a nema network and how well it works? I've heard that radar tends to only work with brand specific and does not play nice with different brands? Is this still true with N2K based radar?

Radar is not transmitted over N2k, it’s typically either (with new units) Ethernet or WiFi connectivity to a compatible display.

Simrad, Lowrance, B&G radars are all the same, just different badge. Lowrance HDS gen2 is compatible with any of the flavors.

Connect to Ethernet port (see attached diagram).
