Re: advice about AC problems

I appreciate your attempt to help me dtrue, but you also need to read my own responses.
I just wrote that the factory explicitly told me NOT to use R22 in my AC. So what am I now supposed to think???

Re: advice about AC problems

To all the members who offered advice about this problem, I want you to know I finally fixed it.
I eventually came to the conclusion it must be low on gas, but I couldn’t get anyone to come to the boat with gauges under $90.00 per hour. I was quite glibly quoted, “About $200, plus gas at $75.00 a pound.” And that was from a guy who lived in the same town!
What did they think I owned, a 50 foot Hatteras !
I finished up taking the unit to Bill Davidson, Davidson Marine Services, Green Cove Springs, Florida, who is a dealer for Pompanette Air. He checked it, vacuumed it, and refilled it with R418a while I went for lunch.
I re-installed it the same day, then pushed the go-button and it’s been pumping freezing air ever since. Total cost $145.00. Plus about $20.00 for gas to get there and back.
Like I said before, It’s not that I can’t afford keeping my boat Bristol, but I hate being ripped off by “specialists,” who are usually only specialists in BS.
Thanks a million to everyone who helped me with this one.
JR
