AIS and Raymarine C90W chartplotter

I'm aboard a yacht with a fairly old RM C90W chartplotter. My issue is not being able to view AIS objects/vessels when in chart view.

I can bring up a list of AIS vessels nearby, no problem at all so the AIS is receiving and transmitting to the chart plotter OK. There was an instance when we last went out that we could see a few very close AIS objects as we maneuvered up the channel to the marina. This only occurred for about 1% of the time we were out that day though. (There were plenty of other times during the day when vessels where just as close if not closer).

I've looked in the manual for setting the AIS Options but nothing leaps out at me as to why AIS objects should be hidden.
Anybody had experience with a C90W chart plotter and knows which option or control to tweak to display AIS

PS I've followed these instructions in the manual btw. AIS objects are definitely enabled on our system.

Enabling or disabling AIS
1. To enable AIS in the chart application:
i. Press the PRESENTATION softkey.
ii. Press the CHART LAYERS softkey.
iii. Press the CHART LAYERS softkey.
iv. Press the AIS OBJECTS softkey repeatedly until the ON
option is selected.
v. Press the OK button

What AIS do you have?

I'm looking to add AIS as well. I also have the C90w.

Re: AIS and Raymarine C90W chartplotter

I know several users of the Cxx (90, 120) and have not heard of AIS target display issues.

From what you are explaining, it appears that your AIS antenna is picking up interference of some kind, and it is only received well when the signal is very strong.

If your AIS device has a display, you can check if that problem exists there as well. In either case, you can check the connections and try to relocate the antenna.
