Making virus accusations is a very big deal especially with an up and coming site/program, it can ruin them for life. However smart your nephew is he is wrong about running more than one virus program, google "run two virus programs" and you will find that this was likely caused by either that or a BHO(browser helper object) or one of about 2 million other things out there today that can cause a false protection warning at a particular site or with a particular program.

How am I qualified to make this determination? I have 11 computers sitting here, that run 24/7/365, going to some of the nastiest sites on the net, warez, crack, hacking, chat and porn sites. You name it my computers have been there. I gave you my list of protection software I use. I haven't had a virus in over 5 years. I am also the local computer geek who has put herself out of the virus removal biz by insisting all my "customers" install the suite of software I have used for so long. In 3 years I have never had a computer come back for virus removal.

I don't think anyone is picking on you, but I don't think you are listening when we all tell you that the problem you experienced didn't start there either.

Well, since there is a bit of a lull in PolarView development (due to external dependency that takes a while) we just added GRIB file support. At this point the only GRIB data type supported is wind information.

We are looking for your feedback. In particular:
- Do you like the symbolization? If not - why not and what would you prefer?
- What other GRIB information types do you usually use? (It would be great if while answering this you provided a copy of your favorite GRIB file - we have access to a limited number of data sources).
- As always, let us know of any bugs, crashes, and other similar unhappy events

Version 0.4 available with this feature.

Hi Brak,

I will race cross atlantic in May in the OSTAR, i'm familiar with various navigation packages and would be interested in getting involved. What are the functionalities currently available?

Marco,

At this point Polar View is very much a "read-only" ENC chart viewer (and, as of yesterday, a GRIB viewer too). There will be more functionality available going forward - in time.

We've been quiet but not idle

PolarView 0.5 "Beta" is out.

A main feature available in this version is support for S63 charts. This adds world-wide chart coverage, available from all major hydrographic organizations, including ChartWorld GmbH - Your Partner In Navigational Digital Services.

Also added day/night color scheme.

PolarView 0.5 for Linux has just been released. Given wide variety of Linux distributions it is almost guaranteed that it will only work on some. It requires GTK 2.0 and is a 32 bit binary (which should work in both 32 and 64 bit systems).

So, if there are any Linux users out there - feel free to knock it about.
