Any Experience With Airmar DX900+ Transducer?

When this thing came out last year it seemed too good to be true -- eletromagnetic (not ultrasonic) speed measurement, and direct measurement of LEEWAY, a killer app for sailing upwind.

I am a long-time user of the ultrasonic Airmar CS-4500 and have gotten quite decent service out of it. But this device is no N2K nor even 0183 and although it is much more accurate than paddlewheel sensors, it is still not as accurate as one might hope for. And I would sure love to have leeway numbers when doing a hard beat to windward.

But the DX900+ seems to have had a lot of teething problems -- does anyone know whether those have been worked out, or not? Would be good to know before dropping a couple boat bucks on one of these.

Dash me with amorous wet . . . . I can repay you."
