autohelm 4000+ sticks at the wheel

My autohelm auto pilot at the helm sticks when you turn. I installed new belt, lubed the belt with dry lube, and I had read that just pouring water over the drive will stop the sticking, but when I pour water over it, it unsticks for a couple of turns and then goes back to being sticky..Any experience shared will be appreciated.

Perhaps the clutch engagement mechanism is holding it up. I had one. Not a very strong system.
