Are there any folks who are Raymarine tech savvy out here? I suppose I should have waited for a weekday to do this update. I am doing the Lighthouse 4.4 update on my Axiom 9 RV. The autopilot parts updated successfully, but the MFD does not complete. It just sits and spins. I had this happen one time before and the tech support guy had me power it down, but the instructions say specifically not to do that. I was ok under his instruction as he was assuming liability, but on my own....

Are there any RM techs out there that could give me a hand here today?

Similar experience.

The damned thing spent hours downloading many megabytes then refused to complete the update.

Mine has updated the auto pilot successfully, just not the MFD. What did you end up doing? Power cycling it?

What version of lighthouse? 4.?

also, what is the exact error? Does it tell you the upgrade failed? Or just freezes?

There is no error that I can see. Here's a picture. It just sits and spins. About 2 hours now.

OK. Because there was a noon error and it said the update failed on 4.4.66.

i’m thinking you don’t really have a choice other than to power down. The only other thing I could think of would be to interrupt the network. Unplug from the backone at the back of the Axiom.

that would create a network error that might bring it out of this state IF a device on the network is responsible. it might even bring it out even if one of the devices is not responsible because it would throw an error and that might be caught by the installer. And it might let you back out.

Worth a shot. I’m thinking like 20% chance though.

Otherwise, I don’t think there is a choice other than to interrupt the install.

when I updated my axiom, it took just a few minutes. I think the update took a total of five minutes if that.. It definitely would not sit like that for two hours. It is stuck.

If unplugging the backbone doesn’t work, I don’t think there’s anything left except powering down.

It will be scary, but I really don’t see that you have other choices. there is a risk that it would brick it. But, probably not. It’s not like there is another way out from where you are right now. Even with tech-support I’m pretty sure you would have to power that thing down and go from there.

I kind of figured. Better than letting is sit and spin for another day and a half. Will give it a shot with fingers crossed.

I just happened to do mine yesterday via sd card. It installed OK, but GPS would not turn on. no sats, even tho internal gps was set on. Power restart did not fix. What did fix is to do a factory reset, (user data unaffected). Seems to be OK now. I jumped from lighthouse 3

Power cycled it and am redownloading it now. We'll see how this time goes. I'll keep the factory reset in mind if I have similar issues with GPS.

I had the same problem on the previous release. I ended up downloading to my PC, copying it to an SD card, and then updating via the card.

The sat fix problem was what motivated me to try for the update which made me fairly nervous as last time I tried an update it bricked the unit and they replaced it on warranty. Factory reset sound like a much safer alternative.

Not overly impressed with the Axiom. Had 3 warranty replacements involving the two units I have. Also have a 7" A series since 2016 which has never given me any problems.
