B&G 608 wind sensor connector

Hi. I would like to replace my B&G 608 wind sensor with a B&G WS310. Does anyone know if the connector on the 310 is the same as the connector on the 608?

Thanks,

eric

I think the answer is they are different, but does anyone know of an adaptor connector?

Thanks

Re: B&G 608 wind sensor connector

According to RigBig, there is no adapter.

I specifically ran my N2K backbone up the mast to hook up the 608 wind vane. I suspect there are quite a few of us with N2K backbone up the mast. The new WS310 uses a completely different cable and doesn't even transmit in N2K. Instead they went backward to 0183!

I suppose there is a good reason they did this, but I don't know what it is. My N2K connection worked perfectly with the 608, the problem is with the bearings.

I know you can get the bearings and do a DIY fix, but my 608 is 6 years old and I would just as soon get a new unit. I guess I will just get another 608.

Does anyone know of other good masthead wind sensors that use N2K?

i believe there is a unit placed at the base of the mast which converts to nmea 2k. this sidesteps the "n2k up the mast" issue.
