B&G system Depth offset

new Zeus 3S put in keel offset of -3.5' it reads correct depth but the 2 Triton displays read ---. If the offset is 0 then the Zeus reads depth from transducer and the Tritons read the depth from the keel. So in the system there is the original offset of 3.5'. With the old Zeus 2 there was no difference in the ratings of a ll 3 instruments.

Re: B&G system Depth offset

Sounds like the Tritons were programmed with their own offset, and display negative numbers as ---.

Re: B&G system Depth offset

When I put the offset in the "config" page for the DST200 in any of the 3 devices it also appears in the other two. If I do a +1.00 then keel depth
+1 appears in the Tritons and true depth +1.0 displays on the Zeus.

Re: B&G system Depth offset

I agree that they're getting offsets from two different settings. I entered the offset only on the Triton, and the Zeus3 just displays that, based on the NMEA2000 feed. On the Triton: Menu > Calibration > Depth > offset. Plus values add to sensed Depth for waterline, negative values subtract for keel depth (my favorite).

Re: B&G system Depth offset

Right, I concur that is how the offset works. So where is the original offset housed in order to cancel it? B&G tech support speculated that it might be a Global setting. I played around with it but no positive results. Any suggestions?

Re: B&G system Depth offset

You know you're in trouble when the manufacturer's tech support is "speculating"! I'd cancel all offset on the Zeus3, and put it in only on the Triton. I have no reason, other than that's what I did and it works on both.

Re: B&G system Depth offset

John, when I go to the DST-200 in the Zeus 3S Setup, Network, Devices there is Data and Config. The Config entry is the same Config as seen in the Tritons when one goes to DST-200. If it is different in the Zeus for you where is it?

No. The offset value is the same.

Re: B&G system Depth offset

Ok I talked to Bill in B&G Tech support today . He came up with a different spot to put in the offset. for the Triton display vs. devices i.e. DST-200 so I will try that next time at the boat.

Re: B&G system Depth offset

The more customizable and complex they make these things, the harder it is for normal users to figure out. That said, the B&G stuff is easier for me to use. Good luck, and hope you have a great 2024 season!
