B&G Triton 2 help

I have the triton 2 and recently noticed the word "LOW" in the upper left corner of the display. Does anyone know what this is identifying?

Lol that's a good one. The literature does not discuss it.

I believe that is indicating the autopilot response, whether in the low or high range. The response rates changes in the two. The threshold for switching from one to the other is an adjustable parameter.

This. If you open your B&G chartplotter (I assume you have one because the Triton is display only) you will see the same thing in the autopilot window, upper left. This is related to the boat settings and being a sailboat with a top speed of 7 knots mine always says "Low."

Re: B&G Triton 2 help

Dr D has it right.
It indicates autopilot gain setting.

Re: B&G Triton 2 help

So for those of us that are new to B&G, what is the significance of the gain setting? For example, does "low" mean that the autopilot CPU will instruct the hydraulic ram to move the rudder more slowly and maybe "high" means to make the rudder movement more quickly?

Thanks!
Bill

Re: B&G Triton 2 help

For the NAC-2/NAC-3 autopilots LO means the response for low speed while HI means the response for high speed. This could be different for different autopilots.

Great question Bill!! Id like to know too. I dont recall seeing it before this past weekend. As a 'newbie' to B&G I am amazed at the features but dont understand most of them. I use the basic features. I.e. heading hold on autopilot(not even sure how to take advantage of the other AP features. lol

The systems are not intuitive. It took me three seasons of sailing to get comfortable with them. I still have to dive into the manuals now and then.

Re: B&G Triton 2 help

I looked in the Triton 2 manual and did not see a reference to that LOW icon displayed. I did see other references for that part of the screen tho(and, dont know what they are either) lol

Unless you adjust the speed at which it jumps from low to high.

The Triton is just a display, the autopilot or MFD manual would be more likely to mention gain settings. I can see “Low” and “High” options on my Zeus MFD- Settings-Autopilot-Steering
