B&G V100-B GPS location available on NMEA 2000?

Hi all,

According to the B&G V100-B user manual, the device should transmit its internally sourced GPS location over the NMEA 2000 network. Anyone with direct experience able to confirm this?

I think this means I don't need another GPS antenna, provided the VHF is switched on whenever I need location.

This only situation I can think of when an additional GPS receiver might be useful is when I have an anchor watch alarm enabled and with the VHF switched off to conserve power. Otherwise I'm going to have the VHF on whenever the other instruments are also on. And having the plotter beeping "no position" at me could even be a useful reminder to turn on the VHF, should I forget!

What scenario might I have missed?
