Battery Monitor and Aux Supply

Having now done a period of full time cruising, it's evident that my Link battery monitor is not calculating things right - understating the state of charge considerably (on the conservative side fortunately).
In reviewing how the PO wired everything, I think I may have found a problem:
The Solar Panel negative output lead goes to the boat size of the the Xantrex shunt - this seems right to me.
The Wind Generator output negative however is connected directly to the battery terminal. I'm thinking that this is therefore not counted when assessing the overall ins and outs of charge through the shunt.
Am I right or 100% wrong - or does it not matter?

Yes all ins and outs need to go through the shunt, so need connecting on the switchboard not the battery side of the shunt.
Mainesail has a great article on installing a battery monitor correctly here:

the battery will always read low if the wind is going straight to the battery. it should be one cable from battery neg to shunt. and everything else after the shunt.

Re: Battery Monitor and Aux Supply

All sources must feed via the shunt and all consumers must be fed via the same shunt. Otherwise you are off balance and your instrument will not show the factual condition.
