best installation spot for radar on a catamaran

Does anyone know where would be the best place to install a Garmin 18hd radar on a 56' mast of a catamaran? Cats heel less than monos, and therefore i was thinking that i can go higher than the first spreader, like 53', or above the place where the jib halyard is attached to the mast. Thus the visibility will be great and the sail will not interfere with the radar. But how about the weight which will be put at such a height?

I just red this article, but it concerns monohulls. Is it the same for catamarans?

thanks!

(i am a total newbie, never had a boat before, never sailed...)

ignore that article..it does not reflect reality at all.

my choice
1. mast: the first spreader is plenty high enough to get solid returns at 24nm..
2. pole: great idea if you also are looking for an engine hoist or add a wind generator also.
