Boat Monitoring: Zigboat

Does anyone have experience with the Zigboat monitoring system? Are the other similar systems out there? There are plenty of boat monitoring system with cloud access and subscriptions, but I am not a fan of paying subscriptions every month.

I am thinking of setting up Arduino (single board computer USD$23) with sim 808 GPS, GPRS, GSM (USD$62.50) to monitor my boat . Lots of resource on Youtube.

Only pay for a monthly prepaid sim card .
This way I can check anytime on the battery condition, monitor my bilge pump, location and maybe turn on a light or fan. Or set up a daily reporting, alert me when the bilge pump is running.

One time the useless float switch on the pump for hours. Luckily that night I happened to be going to the boat.
