I’ve been busy integrating older raymarine electronics on my new to me boat. There are three transducers installed ne I have succeeded in activating on a preexisting Garmin N2K network to a GMI10 display. The other is a P79 (I believe) and I’d like to hook it up to the already installed DSM300 to display on a C120 MFD-Is that possible? Picture attached of the Garmin cable to the transducer and the DSM300 cable to the sounder.

Re: Can a Garmin P79 support a Raymarine DSM300?

Pretty sure we had a DM300 with a P97 transducer for a while, though it had a RM plug on it. Data went to a C80, now long gone.

Today we have the ST60 forward of the mast step and a Garmin P97 in the cockpit locker. Neither interferes with each other due to the distance and different frequencies I think.

You might have a problem or might not, too many variables to say for sure. Connect up the P97 and put the sender in a plastic bag and lay it in the hull as a temporary measure. Assuming you are in the water, fire up both senders and see what happens.

Can a Garmin P79 support a Raymarine DSM300?

Airmar provides the wiring diagram for the ducer on their website (seems they made it for Raymarine) so theoretically I should be able to pair that with the wiring schematic in the sounder manual and forgo buying a new transducer when this one is perfectly servicable. Any suggestions where to get a DIY connector? I’m an electronics newbie but want to become more self proficient. I can buy a new transducer with cable for $195 including the cable and connector, but the old one is in place and the cable already strung-just need to change over from a garmin connector to a raymarine DSM style connector and reconnect the wiring in the correct order. Is it really that simple?
