Cheap NMEA 2000 based system

I did a search but didnt find what i was looking for.
I was wondering if anyone had put together and documented a cheap electronics system based on the readily availably large lcd displays, nmea 2000 to pc converters and micro pc?
Obviously this would be for interior navigation station use mainly but even a 11" rugged tablet is only 300$ for external or bridge use.
All the below runs on 12v dc.
I see several 17" usb-c displays for less than 200$
A nmea 2000 to pc adapter around 200$
Powerful mini PC around 350$
i could see adding nmea sensors for all sorts of things like tank levels, temps, fuel flow, etc.
Could use Navionics, could also be used as a regular PC for things like internet etc.
I image you could probably build the whole system for less than a single marine 2500$ multi function display thats designed for water and sun.

Just curious, im not currently in a position to put it together but maybe someone already has.

Have you looked over at the openCPN sub forum?

If you are looking for a purely inside bulkhead mounted system, openCPN is absolutely the place to start. Most significant integration hard spot will be radar, especially if you are trying to integrate one you already have. One beauty of a protected installation like this is that there is basically no limit and no significant cost on massively upsizing your display - a 50 inch monitor is very achievable. A Bluetooth keyboard and mouse will allow you to put the entire brains behind an access panel.

I think by far the best solution is the YachtDevices NMEA2000 wifi gateway for $249.-

For display you simply use any datapad of the size you like or any PC/MacMini etc. As long as it has wifi.

On the link you see examples of it’s displays using different apps as well as the internal web server. Of course OpenCPN is supported as well.
