Compatibility between Raymarine and Simrad

Hi, would anyone know if a Raymarine evo 100 autopilot with sea bus can be connected with Simrad NSS 8 via NMEA2000 to get chart plotter and gps info? Or is it better to keep the systems separate so if one dies they don't all die? Not sure it improves the autopilot operation to have GPS and speed info?

They will exchange basic info. Like waypoints gps etc

There's no real advantage in keeping them separate.

Re: Compatibility between Raymarine and Simrad

seatalk ng and nmea 2000 is the same thing just different plug. you can buy adapter or just make your own cable (wire colors are the same)

auto pilot is way better with way point steering. also you'll have heading on your plotter. which is needed for radar overlay.
