The 5000/6000/evo200 refer to the computer and head units. The drives were Autohelm branded type 1 or 2 and are now Raymarine Type 1 or 2.

Oh, very cool. So it seems it's not that bad. I'll just soft mount it to a soft mounted board to help isolate mechanical sound. We were thinking of getting a Jefa unit but Phil at PYI recommended the L&S instead, which was a bit cheaper too.

I don't think I'd even go that far. Just makes sure it's securely mounted (super strong) and isolate if it bothers you.

And hd002e- The Raymarine linear drive is much quieter than hydraulics, but you do still hear some whirring noise. I shouldn't have called it silent.
