Documentation old VDO wind topunit about 1980's

I'm very satisfied about VDO equipment for speed, windspeed, winddirection and depth. But I'm afrraid that times will come my equipment goes in trouble. When I have to replace, I have to restore the holes etc. Therefore I want to be able to repair my equipment. So I'm interesting in documentation how to repair. Especially the topunit has my deep interest. How does the winddirection functioning and what are the sensors? My background is electrotechnicus.
Has anyone some documentation about my request?

80's VDO masthead wind transducers...VDO just informed me that they could not repair mine as the parts particularly the small electronic board was no longer available by VDO.
