Ah yes the GO does go to an Iridium screen, then an initialization screen, but registration begins as soon as the device is fully through the boot up process.

Re: Does anyone have an Iridium Go yet?

I have been told that the Iridium Go has better sound, less latency and holds connections better than older Iridium models. Has anyone confirmed this? Is it really measurably better at any of those three things than the latest Iridium handsets?

Thank you for commenting on your actual experience!

Cheers

The sound quality can seem slightly improved due to the better quality microphone and speaker in high end cell phones.. it is still the same network with the same transceiver at the end of the day.

IsatHubs are out in the market now as well, albeit a very limited supply as of now.

Re: Does anyone have an Iridium Go yet?

We just ordered a Go. I was wondering if there are any apps that people are using to strip html on their iphones or ipads. Or failing that, is there any app that you consider a must have when pairing your devices with a Go?

Re: Does anyone have an Iridium Go yet?

Im still waiting for my supplier to receive the antenna connector before I pick mine up. We are leaving France hopefully Dec. 14. I would like to run tests on this equipment a month before leaving.

Re: Does anyone have an Iridium Go yet?

The go is great, works really well. The go firewalls all apps except the go app so you use that for email, internet browsing, Facebook etc. also weather4d pro is the best weather app to download gribs and works fairly seamlessly with the go. If you want to use other apps with the go you will have to create exceptions In The firewall. I haven't looked into that but the go covers all you might need for email, browsing and weather. Definitely the best solution I've seen

Re: Does anyone have an Iridium Go yet?

We installed the Go with the marine antenna and must say it works seamlessly. Download times for weather gribs very good, this was using Weather4D Pro, you tailor the download request to reduce unwanted info and it works very well. Txt and talk function works well and all from the iPad sitting up at the helm, great technology.

Re: Does anyone have an Iridium Go yet?

Is the antenna absolutely necessary or just convenient for downloading when below decks? Can you get a good signal sitting in the cockpit without the antenna?

Re: Does anyone have an Iridium Go yet?

Not sure, but for a few more dollars you have your WiFi hub set up with seamless signal and you device safe below deck and you then use your IPad/ smart phone or PC from anywhere within the boat. Even lying in bed....

It is not necessary, simply helps for over head obstructions. It only takes an Iridium bird 9-10 minutes to go from horizon to horizon, there is a good chance you will have some signal loss without a fixed mast antenna above any obstructions.

Re: Does anyone have an Iridium Go yet?

I had thought of trying Iridium Go but the slow speed scared me off. I decided to go with the Sirius weather instead. So far I'm pleased with it although the documentation is really thin.

All depends on what plan you are on via your reseller or service provider. Data is a data call, so it goes per minute, much like a voice call.
