Attached a screenshot from the B&G manual for the last 10 minutes of TWS, TWD. On our boat the graphs are much more jittery (zigzagging), but it's easy to see short term (ie 10 minutes or whatever period you select) changes.

What bugs me, and was the reason for this thread is that after tacking, both TWS and TWD take a jump to right or left, and start zigzagging around some new point of gravity. Would be cool to remove all boat movement from TWS/TWD

Re: Equations for calculating true wind with attitude?

I implemented part of the earlier mentioned stuff here: https://github.com/mglonnro/truewind

I realized that I have a wind sensor to play around with here at home so it will be fun to see what happens. I don't have a constant source of wind, though

I just tried that!

It was amazingly chaotic and irregular! No matter where I placed the wind sensor. I hope I don't have to build a wind tunnel

Re: Equations for calculating true wind with attitude?

Aim the fam through some toilet paper or paper towel tubes to straighten the airflow.
