Re: Favorite nav app

Too bad it's an Android tablet. Not one app matches the capabilities or ease of use of my Coastal Explorer by Rose Point Navigation for my windows tablet I use at the helm, and plot the routes on my laptop. Expensive, but: lifetime world wide Raster and Vector charts updates, embedded Active Captain. Supports purchased C-maps too. Am not connected to Rose Point Navigation, just a very happy customer of theirs.

Re: Favorite nav app

SeaIQ has blind sided me twice. First while in American Samoa I upgraded the app and it would only working you upgraded th iOS. A real PITA for a foreign cruiser. Then, recently I upgraded the app again and they downgraded their chart access no longer supporting CM93 chart packs.

Re: Favorite nav app

I personally use iSailor.
Have bought lots of charts from different areas, mostly it's very reliable and the charts are quite good.
I use it on iPad for planning and on iPhone for piloting.
Used it a lot in Netherlands, UK, Croatia, Canary islands, Spain, Gibraltar, Thailand.
For now - free updates of charts.

AIS add on is very nice.

One thing I miss is being able to view pre-downloaded GRIB

Re: Favorite nav app

For grib I use Ugrib on my pc and I use Predict Wind with their grip viewer Offshore.

For weather I use a local app for Australia Willyweather, excellent, and our local government weather services. Excellent. Buoy Weather is also good.

There are so many apps now its ridiculous, find one you like and stick with the one you know, I think.
