Furuno 1740 Display Issues

I have a Furuno 1740 that creates a wavy-like display, as you can tell by the photos. Some of the pics look blurry due to the waves the display creates. This seems to be a common problem with the older Furuno radar systems (had a similar experience with another model and never did find out the problem before selling it for parts).

Any ideas what to look here? As a side note, I have nothing else hooked to the unit - just powered it up.
