Furuno N2K or 3D Display

Hi,
We are in the market for a new radar/chartplotter combo and at this point are leaning towards the Furuno line due in large part to there golden customer service reputation.
So my question is this....is the new NavNet 3d worth the extra cost? The price difference between the standard Furuno VX2 system and the Furuno NavNet 3d with ultra high definition 4kw radar is approx. 2K.
So does anyone have any input on these two systems and whether or not the 3D is worth considering?

NavNet3D ends up giving you more options and more expandability. It has the ability to link directly to PC products like MaxSea Time Zero and uses the latest chart display technology. If I were getting new hardware today, I'd go with 3D. Search around and you'll probably find better pricing especially if you can do the installation yourself.

There is a significant difference between the VX2 and 3D. The US charts, both raster and vector, are included with the 3D and you can now buy/use C-Map charts. The 3D support of NMEA2000 directly has great value. The radar runs at twice the speed on the 3D.

Just to name a few....

Thank you for the great information.
Sounds like we would be ahead of the game if we spent the money on the 3D.
