GARMIN AIS600- No COM Ports Available To Connect

I have a Garmin AIS 600 installed by the manufacturer on my boat. I pick up other boats, but I am trying to set it up on my boat to transpond. I have my MMSI number and Call Sign #. I hook my HP PC laptop via mini usb to the AIS 600. I have downloaded the setup software for the Garmin AIS 600 and also downloaded drivers CMD20600.exe. When I click the CMD20600.exe a windows operating black screen appears, says something about downloading drivers and closes out. I’ve power cycled both my laptop and the AIS600 several times. My issue is the “No Comp Ports Available” doesn’t allow me to connect to the AIS600. The connect/disconnect are grayed out.

Usually the dealer first sets up the AIS transceiver or should have.. Try deleting then reinstalling setup software.

The Garmin is power up with 12v when you connect the USB to it? IF so, then the first thing to do would be to check your device manager and see if a comport is created when you plug in the USB to the Garmins AIS.
