Garmin AIS800 power off when plotter turned off?

I am installing a Garmin AIS800 connected to a Garmin GPSMAP 721xs plotter on an NMEA2000 network. The AIS has it's own power connection (not just from the NMEA backbone)

I'm wondering if the AIS will power off when the plotter is switched off or if it's smart to put the AIS on an On/Off switch?

I'm not smart on this particular AIS or plotter, but typically if you shut down a late model Garmin plotter, it will ask if you want to turn off just the station, or the entire system.

The ais will stay on. Should have own switch or breaker.

Re: Garmin AIS800 power off when plotter turned off?

I had my Garmin AIS-B wired so it is live whenever my VHF is powered up. This way when I’m offshore and my MFD is turned off anyone who sees my AIS signal can communicate with me if they feel the need. My VHF also has an AIS receiver incorporated in it so I can monitor those around me without having my MFD in operation.
