Garmin autohelm invalid rudder pos

Getting error, rudder position data invalid

I have never had this unit working. Using Garmin ghp12 autohelm, ghp10 interface, Garmin class a drive. I had a blown fuse at the drive(7.5a). I changed it, still getting this error. All connections look clean. Looks to be nothing damaged or bent.

Wondering if I should open up the drive to look for a loose connection, looks like just plastic shielding on the drive.

Any thoughts?

Re: Garmin autohelm invalid rudder pos

Update.
Garmin says it is possibly a bad rudder sensor. 800$ to swap the entire thing as it is integrated into the drive unit. Also stated there is no way to test in place to know for sure.

I will likely disassemble it and see if I can fix myself.
