garmin gpsmap 4212 no ais targets displayed

Has anyone with a garmin 4212 plotter gotten any ais targets displayed. I have tried all combinations of wiring but my SH GX2400 cant get the ais data to the plotter. The ais data was sent to a garmin 545 gpsmap just fine!

You probably have already done this but just in case. On my Garmin plotter model 2010 with chart window up, Menu>Other Vessels>List>Show...then select if you want MARPA or AIS or Both. Of course your model may have a different path in the menu. Just a thought. The plotter manual leaves a lot to be desired and more than once I've had to call support. Good luck

Well, It seems that garmin's 4212 plotter doesn't know about VDM sentences but it knows about N2k ! WTF...
