Garmin wind instruments gws 20 wireless

Currently have a 740 and plan on installing the wireless wind instrument in the spring. Will let you know how it works out.

PS I'm sick of giving Raymarine my money too!

hi Opie 91

I just received my new instruments I both the bundle wind, dept, speed with the wires as suggest by the salesmen for more rehabilitee
Already test the instrument in my garage, the wind instrument look stronger compare to the st-60 even the display is great lot of functions color mode not only a wind indicator!

I will install them on my boat in March. time will tell if the product is better. Never bin disappointed by Garmin so far.

Sounds good. I am looking forward to hearing your results.

Garmin has not disappointed me either. Not the top of the line, but best value for the money IMO. The only problem I have with them is they seem to abandon support on stuff a little sooner than some other manufactures.

If that wind vane still works for the ST60 it is worth about $250-$300 on eBay.

Re: Garmin wind instruments gws 20 wireless

We've had our Nexus instruments (which is what these are) for just over 3 years now. Love em, except that we need to get the top of the mast to change out that rechargeable battery... They say 2-3 years, and ours is 3 years old.

Re: Garmin wind instruments gws 20 wireless

Hello everybody,
New in the forum, very glad to be here!

I am about to change my old old NKE instruments for the Garmin wireless system ( gWind Masthead Sensor / GMI™ 20 Display / DST800 Thru-hull Intelliducer)
Any idea if I can connect it with a " comar_nmea-2-wifi_dy_ais_lifeguard" ?

Would like to create a hotspot and check everything through my table or Ipad

thx

My nexus wind instrument is not reliable. I lose the connection for up to an hour at a time sporadically.

Re: Garmin wind instruments gws 20 wireless

I have my new garmin wind depth and speed instrument since March very satisfied I chose the version with wire.

The only issue that I have is the wind unit it is very sensitive to the boat movement and can create some confusion in the wind speed reading on my cat but I need to check with garmin if it is a normal issue or if there is a mode to reduce the sensitivity of the unit

The unit show few time reading that was going from 18 nd to 35 nd not in calm sea but in wave that was 2 to 3 m wind was 18 to 25 nd and again with the boat movement in the wave reading when up to 35 few time!!
