Globalstar Service Reliability

Two points from St Augustine. We just returned from six months in the Bahamas (Long Island to Abacos) and used our GlobalStar Phone for all communications with family, friends, business. Many short connections, but clear and only $19.99 a month. (We already had the phone) Our provider signed us up and when we returned, they shut it down until we depart on Jan 1, 2010, with a $50 connection fee.

As for Skype, if you want to upset a bunch of cruisers, crank up your Skype, pull on you headset, and watch cruisers all around you go starkers because you have taken up all the bandwidth on these marginal connections. Lots of providers will kick VOIPers off their service.
