Hi Gain WIFI for GoFree?

Hello all,

I'm trying to work this GoFree box out to try and get more out of it.

What I'd like to do is be able to use it to connect to the marinas wifi for example and then share this connection around the boat. I can't find a way of doing this?

Also if there is a way to do this is there a way to add a high gain arial into the mix to pick up a better signal?

Regards,
Simon

It's not a router, so the short answer in No.

Re: Hi Gain WIFI for GoFree?

I haven't set up a GoFree but from looking at the manual I don't see any major problems.

I would switch the "Operating Mode" from the default "Bridge" to "Gateway". This will make port 1 a WAN port which is what is most commonly use to connect an ethernet based wifi client to (Bullets, Grooves etc.).

There are other setup options that would work in the GoFree but their use will depend on whether you are using static IP's or DHCP on your GoFree network.

Didn't realise that you could configure them as a gateway.

I stand corrected.

Re: Hi Gain WIFI for GoFree?

How does a WAN port help be connect to a Marina's WIFI?
Even if I change it to gateway I can't see an area that lists the networks, etc.

It still wont do what you want by itself, but you can plug it into another device such as a bullet which you will actually use to get the connection between the marina and the GoFree.

Get ya.

Humm. Pretty disappointed in this unit I have to say. Apart from the iPad app it doesn't really do anything.
