I70S TWA/TWS

It appears the Raymarine Forum has gone away, so I'm asking here.

I've got a Raymarine I70S with both air & water transducers. My manual refers to a true wind data display, but I am unable to find any guidance on how to display it.

Can I display true wind speed and direction on this unit and if possible where is it??

Re: I70S TWA/TWS

I have not tried myself yet but I seem to remember you have to calibrate your "speed through water" (STW) sensor first? (paddlewheel/ultrasonic)

And when you say water transducer - do you mean depth - or speed - or both.

To get TWS (True Wind Speed) you need the speed sensor.

Re: I70S TWA/TWS

If you have a wind transducer you'll need an ITC-5 converter to put it on the SeatalkNG network, see page 19 of installation instructions for your wiring plan. I can't post link direct to install instructions, under this link open "Manuals" file then "English" file.

"when you say water transducer - do you mean depth - or speed - or both"

Water transducer is the DTS800, It's got speed, depth & water temp.
I've also got an ITC-5 converter.

Again, the manual makes reference to TWS/TWA, but I must be missing something. I cannot figure out how to select it to display

Re: I70S TWA/TWS

I’m not sure, but I think you need to have a MFD in your network that will calculate TWS/TWA - the i70S doesn’t have the brain to make these calculations.

That is likely the case. --
With all the features & functions in these units, you wouldn't think calculating TWA & TWS would be all that difficult.

Thanks-

I'm just looking at this again because I was sailing a boat recently with B&G instruments that displayed both AWA & TWA on the same display. This boat was definitely much better equipped than mine.
