ICOM 402 to Magellen 310 GPS

I have an ICOM 402 VHF radio and am trying to interface it to a portable Magellen 310 Navigator GPS for the radio's DSC.

The ICOM has a female RCA jack. It says it wants a NMEA+ and NMEA- attachment via male RCA jack.

My Magellen GPS has a seperate DB9 RS232 adapter cable. The docs do not give the Magellen pinout. It works great with my USB converter and my MAC.

Does anyone know how to interface these devices.

Yes, I have not heard back from the Manufacturers yet.

Google rs232 pinout db9. You will get the standard pinout connections. Txd to nmea+, gnd to nmea-.

Re: ICOM 402 to Magellen 310 GPS

pin 2 + pin 5 -

standard DP9 pins.

you could make a cable with a db9 on one end and rca on the other. or just cut the rca plug off and splice into radio wires.

or buy a serial cable and cut one end off. and pin out which wires are pin 2 and 5 and connect to radio

Pin 2 & 5 did the trick. Thanks - I now have a fully working DSC Radio.
