If you have an autohelm/raymarine linear mechanical drive--check for plastic gears

Just a public service announcement...

if you have an autopilot mechanical linear drive that was made before 2010, I would pull it apart and check to see if the gears are plastic or metal. If they are plastic, upgrade them to the heavy duty metal gears (Raymarine part #N021) before you go cruising, because they will die a horrible death otherwise.

Can you confirm that 2010 date? I thought they stopped using plastic gears well before then.
