Installing Navionics+ to Simrad NSS8 help

Ok, feeling dumb having to ask this but looking through my Simrad NSS8 manual, there is nothing about how to install Navionics update and can find absolutely nothing on the Navionics site. I purchased the microSD card and did insert it into the unit, maps are updated but do I have to keep that microSD card always in there? Is there not a way to actually install it on the system?

someone at the marina thought you had to leave the microSD card in the plotter for it to work. this is so that you don't share the data with other boats?

I have the same system. Yes you need to keep the card in the slot at all times when in use. Updates are done by removing the card and plugging it into a laptop connected to the internet and with the Navionics ChartInstaller on it.
