iPad marine mount charger

My hobby has always been the arts. I paint sculpt. Recently I’ve been creating 3D items for printing.
An O Scale 1909 Train has been a machine paying winner .
I’ve developed a few funny key floats in some new fun translucent colours and giving them the rusty screw driver test to see how long they will float. The water tank key is translucent peacock blue, shaped like a fat “w” the pump out translucent yellow drop. A European water fill. A Beneteau logo white soft plastic for ignition key float.
Anything I fumble through is public domain up for modification as you please.

The current project is a marine suitable magnetic charging iPad holder for nav stations.
Minimal footprint, but this version does not allow you to swivel just flat.
I’ve tried a ball mount, failed. Now I’m thinking a fat printed hinge with a long arm to one side to loosen and tighten the joint.
The Four magnets grip the metal back I pads like a clamp. I mounted it on a sheet of plywood and pounded the board and the iPad stayed put. The longer arms go to the bottom.
Any ideas critique welcomed.

Re: iPad marine mount charger

I'm not too sure I would be keen to have a powerful magnet close to my helm station, where I have a magnetic compass.

Re: iPad marine mount charger

Thanks. I don’t use my iPad in the cockpit. The sun eats them and I overheated both iPhone and iPads. The BG screen seems to take the abuse just fine.
My iPad runs speakers movies controls a raspberry pi and cameras. The raspberry stays on-board all winter and the iPad talks to it. So any navigation on it is at the chart table. So the magnets are not close to a compass and the iPad has its own for the chart table.
For use in the cockpit I’ve seen a few designs sealed with heat sinks a ventilation
Is there any practical small mount you use ?

Re: iPad marine mount charger

I wanted a little secure charger which will fit any phone or pad. Magnets are one of the few solutions I can think of to maintain the charger contact. I’ve tried iPhones and Samsung phones with various cases and sizes on the magnets. The spring loaded or adjustable ones I’ve seen let go of a phone first wave.

Don’t get me wrong I like the idea but fear someone will put it next to the compass and there we go
For down below looks great

Re: iPad marine mount charger

Yes it’s sure a concern. I’m not to sure the charger could be made water proof either.

Our old dive boat had two iron balls on each side so the hull and Georgian Bay iron at bay.
