Ipad nav app

I have searched and apparently not very well, because I'm sure you guy's have gone through all the nav apps there are for an iPad
Is there one worth having? Or just forget using a iPad for back-up nav?

Check out Navionics and iNavx. Both are well liked and performs most functions very good.

Goto your iPad and click in the Apps app, then go to search and type in "navigation" You'll see all that's available.

I did, and of course many popped up, just didn't know which ones were junk and which ones wern't. For instance you would think Garmin's "Pilot" App would be among the best for flying as Garmin is THE leader in handheld aviation GPS's, but it's Junk, there are much better and cheaper Apps for flying than Garmin. Although I think an iPad is a toy flying wise, I use a Tablet PC there
Didn't know if the same were true for Marine Apps or not.

Re: Ipad nav app

I've used the Navionics app (I believe it was $49 two years ago) for in the Chesapeake Bay and up the east coast to Mass with excellent results - the software is identical to the installed Raymarine C120 SW I have on the boat so it's been a great backup system.

The draw to Garmin is not hardware, it's ease of use

Re: Ipad nav app

iNavX is the way to go. Have been using it for the past year and very pleased. Would buy again without hesitation. Currently in panama at present.
