LED Nav lights

Hi guys, is it possible to replace conventional filament bulbs in a Masthead light with LED bulbs, or do I have to change the whole fitting? Thanks.

Depends on the type of fitting, try and find out what lamps they are and take a look around on the Internet..

If you check down at the bottom of this page you will find a number of threads that go over this subject quite thoroughly.

You CAN probbaly stick an LED bulb in there. Whether that "bulb" will provide the right illumination to make your entire lamp still conform to COLREGS is something else again. There are a number of long threads about that.

I have replaced incandescent bulbs in Aqua Signal series 20 and 40 lights with aftermarket bulbs by Dr. LED with satisfactory results. The combination does not carry USCG approval. Dave
