Lewmar Mamba Integra Drive

We have a problem with our Lewmar Mamba Integra autopilot drive, type 89500051 - 1/8 HP, disconnecting from our Raymarine ACU 400 course computer.

The message “drive stopped” appears on the pilot control head in the cockpit and it must then be re-engaged.

It often happens when it’s rough and the pilot is correcting the course frequently.*

Has anyone else experienced this problem and were you able to fix it?

I understand there is a new series motor, 8900053 - 1/4 HP, but it is quite expensive and I’m not certain it will solve the problem.

*Our boat is a 2006 Najad 405, 40’ x 12’7” x 7’ and 28,000 lbs. when loaded.
