LINEAR DRIVE TYPE 1 NOT WORKING

My Raymarine type 1 drive activates (motor comes on) but no movement on the ram. I have disconnected the drive from the arm.Can anyone point me what I should be looking for when I open it up? Thanks- Tim

Re: LINEAR DRIVE TYPE 1 NOT WORKING

Sounds like the problem is likely the clutch, or the voltage supply to it.

Here is a schematic showing the parts: Raymarine Linear Drive Clutch Coil Asssembly

Have you tried directly connecting 12V to the clutch wires and see if the arm moves? If it does, then there is a supply or connection problem between the computer and the clutch.

Re: LINEAR DRIVE TYPE 1 NOT WORKING

There is a drive belt and some small planetary gears. the original gears on mine were plastic, which failed. There is an upgrade kit with metal(brass?) gears.
