I am afraid it is the same old story of technology getting amazing with their fancy screens and telling you how much wind the local whale is giving of as it passes you
what did we do 10 years ago sailing, we think we need it, we use it , we swear by it and vow never to be without it , then we lose it or it breaks and think what was all the fuss about as we remember what we did before it !!
something like a phone people swear by as well !!
and what do you mean your RADAR AIS DRS AUTOPILOT, WIND , TOILET LEVEL, ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, GPS ,WATER LEVEL, DIESEL LEVEL , YOUR NEXT MEDICATION DOSAGE, AND THE DOGS DINNER BELL will not be displayed on your 9 inch 2000 dollar
screen with nmea 2000 protocol which should be all color coordinated , but hey you bought a Garmin good luck linking it with your Raymarine
AH much better ty.
You get it! I want some instrumentation, but today it is so easy to go overboard.

There is also a Garmin wired package on Amazon

Garmin GMI 010-01248-30 GMI 20/GNX Depth/Speed/Wind Bundle

The ad has the wrong picture but this bundle has 1 colour annd 1 B&W display at a very competitive price.

Does anyone know of any nmea 2000 standalone displays?
The Triton or Triton2 line from B&G are NMEA 2000. If you buy just the display, it would be a standalone NMEA 2000 display. There are no proprietary connectors and they conform %100 to NMEA 2000.

Raymarine also has NMEA 2000 displays, but you need to deal with their proprietary SeaTalkNG connectors (I just spliced them into our canbus cables).

Re: List of all available options for wind instruments?

I decided to go with the Triton clearance package from Defender for $1,000!

Now to find a radar/chartplotter bunder for under $2k...preferably B&G.

Nice.. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Now I can't speak from experience.. but I know Garmin sometimes has a radar/plotter deal that I have been eyeing (like $1800). Garmin is also straight Micro-C connections, so it will hook up to the B&G without problems. (I said Canbus earlier by mistake, I meant Micro-C)

Maybe someone with experience can comment on the Garmin radar/plotter packages!

Re: List of all available options for wind instruments?

Now that the question has been reasonably discussed and answered, I'll share what my initial response to " List of all available options for wind instruments?" was:

Let's see... piccolo, flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet.......

Silly me!

Keep an eye on Defender. They used to have Zeus2/3G bundles but they are probably sold out. Also reconditioned stuff.
