Alfa AWUS036H plus two 6 ft USB extension cables so you can put the antenna up under the dodger, and a plastic baggie to keep it dry.

Get the Alfa 500mw 802,but get the Engenius 2408 Omni antenna, don't forget the N type male 10 inch pigtail connector, and 10ft. usb extension cable.Mount the Alfa under dodger (at antenna end).Make sure top of antenna clears over major clutter on boat.Total cost ,around $120..I get excellent results.

500 w ampli really worth it ? have my doubts

have a 19dbi directional antenna in santa barbara harbor. It is slow but powerful. I read all your thread about 500 mw ampli. I added one in line to my system

!! It absolutely makes no difference !!

will test with my omni tonight but i have a lot of doubts

If you are at a dock, you can use a directional antenna, but when you are on the hook its a PITA. I get the same connectivity with the Alfa as with my Hawking directional wifi, but the Alfa I don't have to keep turning the antenna as the boat swings.
