The trouble I was having with Skype in the Bahamas was in November last year.

I'm a bit disappointed with my MagicJack. In Mexico when I call CDN numbers the reception is very poor. If I then dial the same number on Skype, it works fine so I don't think its a connection problem.

I was having poor reception when I used wifi with a weak signal,if the signal is strong its much better.The way to get around that is to switch to Telcel 3G,now my reception is always good (even to Canada),range is greatly increased,and I have internet also.Cost is very reasonable.
